Speedway and the Cuyahoga County Safe Communities Coalition join forces to reward motorists for Buckling Up

Just in time for motorists to fuel up and hit the road for the Memorial Day holiday weekend, law enforcement agencies and Safe Communities members partnered with Speedway gas stations across Northern Ohio to remind motorists to buckle their seatbelts before leaving for their destinations.  On Friday, May 28, motorists wearing their seatbelts when they entered select Speedway locations were rewarded on the spot with cookies from Speedway and a Click It FOR a Ticket voucher offering a chance at bigger prizes to be awarded at the end of the Click It or Ticket mobilization in June.

19/43 Action News: CIOT Day and Night enforcement and the Click It or Ticket Rock Hall Gobo

Buckle Up: Most Deadly Crashes Happen at Night!

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) – 19 Action News has uncovered a new reason for you to watch out when you’re driving this weekend—especially at night.  When the sun goes down, the seat belts are apparently coming off. Half of all deadly crashes in Ohio happen at night.  The Cuyahoga County DUI Task Force has just kicked off another Click It or Ticket campaign to get more folks like you to buckle up.  Now, University Hospitals found that over a three year period, during the day 49 percent of people who died in car crashes wore seat belts. But at night, only 31 percent of those who died in crashes had buckled up.  State troopers have added patrols in the Cleveland area on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights–all spring and summer long. They’ll monitor sections of highway where the most alcohol related crashes have happened.  Local cops are stepping up night patrols for the summer season too so click it or get a ticket and be safe!
