    I. Announcements/Old Business

    Spring Calendar Fundraiser
  • BIG thanks to all those who helped! Raised $760 for Safe Kids Buckle Up Program.
  • DUI Task Force Wins National Award
  • The Cuyahoga County DUI Task Force was awarded 2nd place in the International Association of Chief’s of Police National Law Enforcement Challenge.
  • This marks the fourth time the Task Force has been recognized as one of the top two multi-jurisdictional traffic safety programs in the country.
Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month
  • Great Big Thanks to our Motorcycle Safety Committee Members: Ken Gillisee, Bob Abele, Mike Lewis, Mark Krumheuer and Pat Greenhill.

    Click It or Ticket

  • BIG THANKS to everyone who helped out with this year’s Click It or Ticket! It was a HUGE success! Check out the pictures on our website at www.injurypreventionceneter.com.posts/291.

    II. New business

    Pause to Click
  • A program designed to increase seat belt use among students entering 6th-8th grade. It is a multimedia campaign to give children the chance to express themselves creatively by creating a song, video PSA or poster to encourace their peers to buckle up.

  • Pause to Click website is up and running at www.pausetoclick.com.
  • Help promote around your community by filling out an order form to receive posterse and postcards with more information.
  • Multicultural Communities Occupant Protection Program

  • Upcoming events- Helen S. Brown Buckle Donw (7/13) , Living Truth Center Buckle Down (8/1), Body & Sould 2010 (8/7) and Summer Community Festivals including Latin and Glenville Festivals.

  • Distributed a lot of Click It or Ticket materials.
  • Upcoming outreach: Faith-based organizations (hand held fans, seed packets, bible markers and church bulletins); Barber shop and beauty salons (manicure sets, hair capes and nail clippers); Community events (air fresheners and wristbands)
  • Keep Your Family Tight

  • Program with 93.1 FM to promote seat belt use. Participants are asked to submit a family photo with a seat belt theme and enter to win a $500 gift card.

    Summer Safety

  • Make sure the children in your community stay safet this summer. Fill out an order form to reserve summer safety cut outs.

    Water Safety

  • Fill out an order form  to get water safety posters, water safety stickers and boat safety brochures.

    Motorcycle Safety- Summer Initiatives

  • Quaker Steak and Lube Valley View Bike Night, July 14. Motorcyclists safety displays offering tips on blind spots, hazards, intersections and lane positioning.
  • Partnership with State Farm, WMMS and Quaker Steak and Lube for a splash page on WMMS website (keyword “motorcycle”) with supporting PSAs on the radio
  • Upcoming events: Mix 106.5 Listener Lunch (7/15 and 8/12), Southeast Harley Twilight Corn Roast (8/20), Country Jam Tenative (9/10) and Valley View QSL (9/15).
  • My Ride My Rules

  • New teen driver outreach within Kohl’s Safe Rides for All Kids Program. Facebook driven campaign supported by TV spots, radio campaigns, online ads and streaming radio and texting campaign.
  • Five hundred teens in the area are fans, but looking to build up “fans.”
    • Buckle Your Beats Coming Soon

    • Encourages seat belt use among minority males 14-34 years old. Participants will log on to www.zhiphopcleveland.com to submit their favorite customised beat arrangement of music mixed using different deat belt click sound effects
    • Top five entries with most votes will win a chance to perform live. Winner will win music equipment from Audio Outlaws and their beat will be featured as Z107.9′s Latin Assassin Show Intro for a month.
        Drunk Driving: Over the Limit, Under Arrest, Labor Day Mobilization
    • “Choose tour Ride” Outreach- promotion remind the public that the safe alternative to driving while intoxicated is to call a cab. Half police car, half taxicab vehicles will cruise entertainment areas and appear at events.

    • Collateral includes: street posters with convenient tear-off slips imprinted with Safe Rides’ phone number, restroom mirror decals, window door decals, urinal cakes and coasters.

        Member Recognition Meeting

      • PLEASE turn in any and all activity reports, newspaper articles, television clips, internet sites, community newsletters and event flies so we can recognize all the hard work you do for us!

        Teddy Bear Day at the Zoo

      • September 25 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Contact Tracey at 216.983.1110 or tracey.stehura@uhhospitals.org to volunteer to help.
      • Booster Seat Programs

      • Fill out an order form to pick up your “I’m Safe In The Car In Ohio” activity books and “Boost your Booty” fliers. Perfect to use in conjunction with Child Passenger Safety Week.
      • Child Passenger Safety Week

      • Dora the Explorer will be at the Children’s Museum on Saturday, September 25 for Seat Check Saturday. After parents get their seat installed and inspected, they will be able to enter the museum and visit with Dora.
      • Dora will also be at the Traffic Safety Sunday Social on Sunday September 26 in Cleveland’s near Westside.
      • CPSTs, WE NEED YOU TO MAKE THIS EVENT SUCCESSFUL! 

        Fall Teen Driving Safety

      • Fill out request formto order homecoming postcards to remind parents to keep their teenagers safe around homecoming season.
      • Pedestrian Safety

      • Back to School pedestrian safety materials available! Fill out a request form for a customizable press release, pedestrian safety activity sheets and posters
        International Walk To School Day
        On Wednesday, October 6.
      • Calling for all schools wanting to participate in this year’s IWTSD. Please help recruit schools for the IWTSD initiatives!
      • Fire Prevention
      • Fire Prevention Week is Ocotber 3-9 with the theme of “Smoke Alarms- A Sound You Can Live With.”More information to come. If interested in materials, fill out request form to receive materials closer to the date.

      III. Coalition Information

        Coalition Building

      • We are looking for NEW members. Each month you will have a dedicated theme for recruiting new members. For each new member you bring, you will be entered into a drawing for Fatal Vision Goggles Activity Kit.

    BJ’s Wholesale Club
  • BJ’s is extending a special new or renewal membership offer to our members until July 31. For every new or renewal member generated by our members, BJ’s will donate $5 to our Safe Kids Coalition.
