Jam! Don't Slam! and WHYB kick-off

Over 200 police officers and traffic safety advocates from the Northeast Ohio region gathered at the House of Blues in downtown Cleveland to kick-off the 2005 What's Holding You Back/Click It or Ticket campaign. The goal of the campaign was to increase seat belt use in the area and prevent injuries and fatalities caused by motor vehicle crashes.

Commander Mark Kwiatkowski, Bedford Heights Police Department, spoke on behalf of Cuyahoga County's Speed Reckless and Aggressive Driving/DUI Task Force, warned motorists that if they were not wearing a seat belt they would receive two tickets and two fines.

Gary Adams, president of the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealer's Association, presented the Task Force with a new portable sign board to be used in traffic enforcement efforst. The GCADA helped sponsor the event.

Race Car Driver Randy Ruhlman wowed the audience with stories of the importance of seat belts on and off of the race track. Tom Ganley, President of Ganley Automotive, presented the task force with two new public service announcements.

Finalists from the Jam! Dont' Slam! Songwriting contest performed on stage at the House of Blues following the press conference. Finalists included Shorty-E (Ebonee Wall) from Parma, Seneca Wallace - Mayfield High School, Bobby Vaughn - Mayfield High School, and Jillian O’Brian and Sara Czukal - Mayfield High School.

Vaughn ("Bobby-V") won the contest and received a Fender Stratocaster guitar courtesy of Lentine's Music, which sponsored the songwriting contest.
