KidsFest 2005
Tens of thousands of kids, temperatures in the nineties, and pouring rain doesn’t necessarily seem like a fun weekend. But thanks to the wonderful volunteers from Rainbow and the Greater Cleveland community, KidsFest 2005 was a smashing success! The event took place at the Tower City Amphitheatre and lasted for three hot days in the sun (and rain). Although the weather wasn’t cooperative, that did not stop families from spending the day at KidsFest. Here are some of the attendance numbers for the weekend:
| Friday |
13,980 |
| Saturday |
14,246 (record attendance) |
| Sunday |
9,710 |
| Total |
37,936 |
This year’s theme to one of the Rainbow’s tents was the importance of safety with a “Price is Right” twist. There were six games with themes including poison safety and hand washing tips. The kids earned their way to the prize table which held crayons, bubbles, coloring books, tattoos, and more.
When the weather turned bad, Rainbow had ponchos to distribute to protect attendees from the elements. Imagine thousands of people running through the rain with bright yellow “I Love Rainbow” ponchos; it was a sight to be seen.
Special thanks to the nurses from RBC 2, 4, 5, 6, and the NICU who were amazing with the kids and knew how to work under the chaos of the day. I’m not sure how we would have survived without the awesome Rainbow volunteers. We hope all who participated enjoyed the weekend as much as we did and come join us next year for an even better KidsFest.
