Safe Kids Greater Cleveland
Advocacy Action Opportunity Update
1.16.08 - Legislators want to do the right thing, but they also want to please voters. Letting them know the public supports efforts to protect children can be a powerful incentive to vote in favor of these issues. There are currently two pending bills in the Ohio House and one in the Senate that address child safety issues. We encourage all members of Safe Kids Greater Cleveland to learn more about these bills and work with our legislators to advance the health and safety of children and families. Learn more about H.B. 387, H.B. 320, and S.B. 27 and what you can do help.
Safe Kids/Communities to host 8th annual Mocktail Party
11.8.07 - The Greater Cleveland Safe Kids/Safe Communities Coalition will host their annual "Mocktail" party at the IX Center on Thursday, November 29, 2007. The event will include non-alcoholic mixers created by agencies from Northeast Ohio. Silent and Chinese auctions will raise funds for the Greater Cleveland Safe Kids Coalition. Come join us for an evening of fun, food, and music as we celebrate responsible partying during the holiday season.

Pause to Click Music Video at the Crawford Museum
7.27.07 - In June, over two dozen middle schoolers from Northeast Ohio participated in the first annual “Pause to Click” multimedia contest to kick off Rainbow’s Injury Prevention Center’s new tween passenger safety campaign. Second place winners Myles Alexander and Terrell Clark were invited to record a music video for their song “This is Why I Click” at the Crawford Auto Museum. Utilizing a professional producer and cameraman from WKYC studios, Myles and Terrell got their first taste at stardom. The boys created a 30-second commercial and a full length music video. OVI Task Force arrests 16 during Warrant Sweep
7.2.07 - Officers from the Cuyahoga County OVI Task Force conducted an OVI Warrant Sweep on Sunday, July 1st. This OVI Warrant Sweep was the first in a series of efforts aimed at increasing public awareness and decreasing the number of impaired drivers who fail to complete the terms of their arrest. Warrants are issued for such violations as failure to appear in court, pay fines, or attend programs required under state law after an arrest. The three-hour operation attempted to serve 65 warrants and resulted in 16 arrests. Organizers consider this first-time effort to be a success. More...
Rainbow Launches Pause to Click Contest for Tweens
6.4.2007 - Finalists from the Pause to Click Multimedia Contest performed their songs, showed their videos, and displayed their art on stage at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - Museum on Saturday, June 2. The contest, presented by University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital, in partnership with Kohl's, encouraged students to use their artistic abilities to encourage their peers to buckle up in the car. Spring Into Safety Fundraiser
5.30.2007 - Rainbow is conducting a month long raffle fundraiser. Tickets are $5 each and enter the buyer into every drawing held during the fundraiser. That means 26 chances to win fabulous prizes! Officers Reward Buckled motorists with Grand Prix Tickets
5.29.07 - Police in several communities are issuing tickets, but these are the kind you want. Buckled motorists received two tickets to the Cleveland Grand Prix, while unbelted vehicle occupants received a penny for good luck. For more details of this program click here...
Jam! Dont Slam! Finalists Perform at House of Blues
5.18.2007 - Five finalists from Rainbow's Jam! Don't Slam Contest performed on stage at the House of Blues following the local 2007 Click It or Ticket campaign kick off. Hannah and Eytan Rosenblum of Fuchs Mizrachi School came in first place and received a session in a professional recording studio courtesy of Lava Room Recording.
