Firearm Safety
Nearly all unintentional shootings involving children occur in or around the home. Fifty percent occur at the victim’s home and 40 percent occur at a friend or relative’s home. Firearms inside a home should be stored safely, which means unloaded, locked and away from children.
Firearm safety is the adult’s responsibility, not the child’s. Rainbow’s Injury Prevention Center offers many different programs, materials and supplies to educate adults and children on firearm safety, including:
- Firearm safety guides
- Informational pamphlets and handouts
- Posters
- Cable locks
- Videos
